A direct shell is similar to a ceramic shell. The difference is that the ceramic shell is made by the dental technician while the direct shell is built up one by one by the dentist using a special layering technique with the best quality German or Japanese filling material. It is a single-session, painless procedure performed under local anaesthesia.
The biggest advantage is that as little of the tooth material as possible needs to be removed.
