Inlay, onlay insert
We replace missing parts of the tooth
Inlay, onlay, overlay… Indirect restorations
Inlays are a dental prosthesis that is gaining ground in dentistry, with the rise of modern ceramics and CAD/CAM techniques. For those teeth that can no longer be adequately secured with a filling, we prefer to use inlays. For the filling, we do not “grind down” the tooth, as in the case of a crown, but we glue the insert, which replaces the missing part of the tooth, in one piece into the tooth cavity.
A perfectly fitting and lifelike inlay, onlay (insert):
Why it is worth to make an insert?
- Because materials can be used that cannot be worked in the mouth (e.g. porcelain, gold, zirconium).
- Because there are ideal conditions to make a perfectly fitting filling (no saliva, no tongue, no dark, etc...).
- Because the tooth can be removed from the plaster cast and the seal can be checked from all directions.
- Because it reduces the risk of fractures of teeth subject to root canal treatment by 80%
- Because it is prettier and more durable than a filling
